Overall

4.74*

One of Europe’s most young and exciting lead guard prospects, Spagnolo has a very intriguing skill set for his age and the feel for the game to match to be one of the world’s top point guards.

If Spagnolo can tighten up his control of the basketball and decision making, he will quickly become one of the most sought after combo guards by NBA GMs.

He’s a natural in pick and roll with the ability to attack and get deep into the paint on any possession. Have yet to see a team keep him out of the paint. This ability to get downhill at will will allow him to be surrounded by a rim finisher and spot shooters and thus lead a high octane offense for the next decade. He has the physical tools to play on and off the ball and guard 2 positions thanks to his size and lateral quickness, which needs some improvements.

With an abundance of room to grow, Spagnolo has caught the attention of NBA scouts and executives and has his name in this year’s draft as an optimal “draft and stash” prospect like we saw with Lithuanian guard Rokas Jokubaitis.

With Spagnolo under contract with Real Madrid for two additional seasons, whoever drafts him wouldn’t have to use a roster spot until he’s almost 22, giving him the time and in-game reps to continue improving across all aspects of his game.

"Switching in the Modern game gives you a better chance to guard pick-and-rolls with two men instead of five. Having a switchable big is invaluable It often keeps you out of scrambling due to missed rotations."

Switchability

Has the size (6’5) to switch onto bigs, which is a big reason why he’s such an intriguing prospect at the NBA level. Teams can’t overload pick and roll calls to get him in compromising pick and roll situations. He struggles a bit to stay on faster guards using screens, but he’s capable on ball and should improve. He also has the size to guard most shooting guards and can cancel most/all small/small screens.

  2. Shooting guards- Transition catch and shoot specialist.

  3. Forward- A bump big who can stroke it (Erikas Kalincenko-type) and be a disciplined off ball cutter.

  4. Bigs- A dynamic roller and straight line cutter who can play above the rim. A great pocket pass catcher who can quick jump and finish.
